Markets Overview
Washington Division provides integrated engineering, construction, and management solutions across six major global markets.
Defense:
We have worked with the U.S. Department of Defense and predecessor agencies since 1933. Today, as the leader in global threat reduction, we are eliminating 78 percent of the weapons in the U.S. chemical stockpile and are involved in similar efforts in Eastern Europe. We are demilitarizing nuclear weapons delivery and production systems as well as providing border-security systems, infrastructure hardening, and homeland-security solutions globally.
Energy & Environment:
We manage high risk, technically complex programs and facilities for the U.S. Department of Energy and other federal agencies, including safely managing a segment of the nation’s remaining nuclear deterrent and cleaning up more of the Cold War’s chemical and radioactive legacy than any other company. We also develop and apply technology to address complex challenges from environmental remediation and homeland security to energy conservation.
Industrial/Process:
We provide full project life-cycle services from front-end studies to complete engineering, procurement, and construction to facility management and production maintenance for an impressive range of markets and Fortune 500 clients worldwide. We support the business objectives of our clients in oil, gas, and chemicals; industrial/manufacturing; biopharmaceutical; consumer products; automotive; integrated services; and other markets.
Infrastructure:
We develop practical, efficient, and innovative solutions for rail and transit, water resources, and highway projects worldwide – applying our complete in house capabilities and the latest technologies to early project conception and development, final design and construction, program management, and operations and maintenance. Also, under a series of U.S. government contracts, we are building and restoring power, water supply, and military facilities in the Middle East.
Mining:
We provide the full life cycle of mining services including feasibility studies; mine planning and development; engineering, procurement, construction, and management of process facilities; operation of surface mines; and land restoration. Our industry-leading mining services leverage state-of-the-art mining technologies underpinned by practical processes and procedures for the highest productivity and safety in extracting and processing metals, industrial minerals, and energy resources.
Power:
We provide engineering, design, construction, modification, and maintenance of power-generating facilities and the systems that transmit and distribute their electricity. Focused on services, solutions, and operating systems that add value for our clients, we have engineered and/or constructed nearly 250,000 megawatts of electricity in the world – more than any other contractor and equivalent to almost one-fourth of the current U.S. generating capacity.
