Why I joined:
I like mining engineering because it's not a fixed science; there's a lot of human interaction. Washington Division works on mines all over the world in a wide variety of commodities, which is what attracted me.
Why I've stayed:
The Washington Division of URS Corporation is very professional. People here are very dedicated to helping me develop my career. I can't believe the amount of travel I've done and the amount of exposure I've gotten to our projects.
What I do:
So far, I have worked on or visited mines all over the world including Jamaica, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Nevada and Washington state. My work at Washington Division has included mine planning as well as improving mining and production workflow processes.
On a more personal note, I've taken part in a lot of professional development and mentorship programs since I've been here. In fact, I am currently working on a year-and-a-half assignment designed to stretch me beyond my comfort zone in business development. |
