Why I joined:
I initially started to work at Washington Division because of the pay and the projects, but I continue to work here because I believe that it is a very people-oriented company.
Why I've stayed:
I think that quite often, people grow to fill the box that they are put in. Most of my career with Washington Division has been spent in "boxes" that were bigger than me and, with the help and guidance of great people around me, I've been able to grow. I don't think that I would have had as rewarding of a career, both personally and professionally, at another company.
What I do:
For five years I worked at Washington Savannah River Company as an engineer on hydrogen processing equipment in the Tritium Facility. I was also the assistant operations manager for a facility, which gave me an opportunity to learn how to interact with high-ranking government clients.
Since then, I have worked as a process engineer supporting our ever-expanding oil, gas, and chemicals market. I work closely with other engineers and clients to make sure I have a clear idea of what the goals and objectives are for each project.
Outside of my "regular" duties, I've been involved in mentoring, and initiatives focused on improving our performance as a company. I think it's important to remember that people with engineering degrees are not limited to the field of engineering. Many engineers continue to advance to other fields relying on their technical engineering background to help them with decision-making in other positions.
