Lead Electrical Engineer

– B.S., Engineering, & M.S., Engineering Systems, Colorado School of Mines

– Joined 2003

Why I joined:
Washington Division offered me a job close to home, which was important to me at the time. Also, I was impressed that my hiring manager knew my professor and my school, and had a good sense of what my degree was all about.

Why I've stayed:
Washington Division has provided me with challenging assignments and higher responsibilities to "fast-track" my career. I have had the opportunity to travel around the U.S., I’ve been given the flexibility needed to complete a master's degree part time while continuing to work, I have received continued mentoring from senior level management, and I have been able to take part in some great training programs.

What I do:
I joined Washington Division straight out of college in 2003. I spent 18 months taking part in the Professional Rotational Experience Program (PREP) working at the Savannah River Site, our New York City office, the Monroe Power Plant in Michigan, and at BP Toledo Refinery. PREP provided a wealth of hands-on experience for me in electrical engineering, project controls, purchasing, construction management, business management, safety, and start-up engineering.

Today, I have my professional engineering license and am the lead electrical engineer on a gas-fired cogeneration project we're working on in Canada.
