Global Chemical Demilitarization
Under contract with the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency to destroy 78 percent of the weapons in the U.S. chemical stockpile, we are currently operating or helping design and construct five chemical agent disposal facilities across the United States.
We have been demilitarizing chemical weapons on a large-scale basis since 1990 and are currently performing chemical demilitarization operations in Anniston, Pine Bluff, and Umatilla. To date we have destroyed more than 875,000 rockets, mortars, projectiles, landmines, and bulk containers of chemical agent and over 4,235 tons of chemical warfare material. The chemical agents involved are mustard, which is a blistering agent, and two nerve agents, GB and VX.
We are also on the team that will manage operations at neutralization-based chemical demilitarization plants in Pueblo, Colorado, and bluegrass, Kentucky, and have completed construction of the facility in Tooele, Utah.

Highlights & Accomplishments
- Our employees Anniston, Umatilla and Pine Bluff have excelled in safety, averaging one OSHA-recordable injury for every 200,000 hours worked.
- Our Anniston, Umatilla, and Pine Bluff facilities are recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency as warranting Star Status under the Voluntary Protection Program.
- The Anniston team has completed four years of operations and has incinerated nearly 30% of the facility's stockpile—over 194,000 munitions and 670 tons of nerve agent GB and VX.
- The Pine Bluff team has completed two years of operations and has destroyed over 12% of the facility’s stockpile—over 90,000 rockets and 478 tons of GB. It is one of only five companies in Arkansas history to achieve nine million safe hours since 1976.
- The Umatilla facility has completed three years of operations and has destroyed over 155,000 munitions and 1,014 tons of GB. Despite this challenging work, the injury rate is so low it rivals the banking industry.
