Nuclear/Hazardous Waste

Energy & Environment Projects

Savannah River Site & National Lab
Savannah River Site & National Lab

Our work for the DOE includes storing of nuclear waste, as well as science and technology research.

Waste Isolation Pilot Plant
Waste Isolation Pilot Plant

We are safely isolating nuclear waste deep beneath New Mexico's desert.

Idaho National Laboratory
Idaho National Laboratory

We are part of the management team operating the prestigious Idaho National Laboratory.

Idaho Cleanup Project
Idaho Cleanup Project

We are part of a team managing a $2.9 billion nuclear cleanup effort in Idaho.

Lawrence Livermore National Lab
Lawrence Livermore National Lab

The lab performs work vital to the security and research interests of the United States.

Decontamination & Decommissioning Case Studies

Our commitment to safe and cutting-edge decontamination and decommissioning is evident by the following projects:

Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site
Near Denver, Colorado

We performed major stabilization, decontamination and decommissioning at this high-hazard, plutonium facility. Site-specific operations included removal and stabilization of plutonium residues and restoration of one of the most contaminated sites in the DOE complex. We removed tons of uranium and PCB wastes, treated millions of gallons of radioactive wastewater, and certified transuranic waste destined for our Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico.

Hanford Plutonium Finishing Plant
Richland, Washington

We were instrumental in decommissioning the Hanford facility in preparation for final demolition. Our scope of work also included stabilizing and removing residual plutonium.

Savannah River Site
Aiken South Carolina

We successfully decontaminated, decommissioned, and demolished the nation’s original tritium production facility in 1989, returning it to a greenfield site. Today, the Tritium Facility Modernization and Consolidation Project is successfully consolidating and decommissioning the site's remaining tritium operations.

Los Alamos National Lab
Los Alamos, New Mexico

Our decommissioning and landfill closure methodologies resulted in $12 million remediation cost reduction, and reduced landfill waste volumes by 90%.

Weldon Spring Site Remedial Action Project
St. Charles, Missouri

The departments of Defense (DOD) and Energy (DOE) have contracted with us to perform removal, treatability studies, and facility tasks at an ordnance site as well as a uranium processing site. The massive environmental restoration and decontamination and decommissioning project has demanded ongoing technological support and solutions.

We have decontaminated 44 buildings, remediated 217 acres of land, and treated more than 60 million gallons of water. Preparations are now underway to restore the site to native prairie grassland.
