De-Na-Zin and Gateway Coal Mines—New Mexico
We formed the Yampa Mining Co. as a fully owned subsidiary to assume all responsibilities associated for the final closure of the De-Na-Zin and Gateway coalmines. Final reclamation activities included:
- The backfill of remaining pits
- Topsoil replacement
- Re-vegetation
- Sediment pond construction
- Environmental monitoring
- Extended permit responsibility
The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department awarded Washington Division the “Excellence in Reclamation” Award for our performance at this project.
Golden Reward Mine—South Dakota
We provided reclamation engineering as well as contract mining services for the Gold Reward Mine, located 2 miles south of Lead, South Dakota. We were commissioned to provide reclamation and cost estimation services to validate a state bonding cost estimate.
Following this task, we mobilized equipment fleet to provide operation services including:
- Loading, haulage, and support equipment to backfill and re-grade existing mined areas
- Re-grade rock stockpiles
- Off-load ore from the leach pad
- Back-fill mine areas with spent ore and barren rock to re-establish drainage and meeting the state approved final reclamation plan
Thompson Creek Molybdenum Development—Idaho
Under a lease issued by Cyprus Amax Metals, we design, engineering and a comprehensive reclamation plan for the entire site.
TransAlta Centralia Mining LLC— Washington
We are providing mine closure services including reshaping the mine areas to meet approved reclamation plans and replacing topsoil material on the reshaped land.
We are also developing new mine areas for the client’s mining crews; this work includes clearing vegetation, building sedimentation ponds to catch runoff, and removing vegetation that can be placed on previously mined areas or stockpiled until mining is complete.
Wharf Mines—South Dakota
We performed engineering services related to a mine-closure reclamation cost estimate for comparison to a South Dakota Department of Natural Resources bonding estimate. Operations services included loading, haulage, and support equipment to assist in off-loading the precious metals heap leach pad. Spent ore was off-loaded over a two-month period to ensure sufficient leach pad area for additional ore development.
