Project Overview
Under contract to destroy 78 percent of the weapons in the U.S. chemical stockpile, we are currently operating or helping design and construct five chemical agent disposal facilities across the United States.
We are currently performing chemical demilitarization operations in Anniston, Pine Bluff, and Umatilla. We are also on the team that will manage operations at neutralization-based chemical demilitarization plants in Pueblo and bluegrass and have completed construction of the facility in Tooele, Utah.
Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility, Alabama
- ANCDF is using state-of-the-art incineration technology to safely destroy approximately 2,254 tons of chemical weapons stockpiled at the Anniston Army Depot.
- The Anniston team has completed four years of operations and has incinerated nearly 30% of the facility's stockpile—over 194,000 munitions and 670 tons of nerve agent GB and VX.
Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Demilitarization Facility, Arkansas
- Approximately 12 percent of the national’s original stockpile is stored at Pine Bluff. The inventory includes rockets filled with GB & VX nerve agents, land mines filled with VX nerve agent and containers filled with blister agents.
- The Pine Bluff team has completed two years of operations and has destroyed over 12% of the facility’s stockpile—over 90,000 rockets and 478 tons of GB. It is one of only five companies in Arkansas history to achieve nine million safe hours since 1976.
Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility, Oregon
- The chemical weapons stored at the depot consist of various munitions and ton containers, containing GB or VX nerve agents or HD blister agent.
- The Umatilla facility has completed three years of operations and has destroyed over 155,000 munitions and 1,014 tons of GB. Despite this challenging work, the injury rate is so low it rivals the banking industry.
Highlights & Accomplishments
- Our employees Anniston, Umatilla and Pine Bluff have excelled in safety, averaging one OSHA-recordable injury for every 200,000 hours worked.
- Our Anniston, Umatilla, and Pine Bluff facilities are recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency as warranting Star Status under the Voluntary Protection Program.
