Project Overview
Washington Division joined with CH2M HILL to manage the $2.9 billion cleanup contract for the U.S. Department of Energy. The Idaho Cleanup Project—one of the largest cleanup projects in history—is a seven-year undertaking involving an 890-square-mile site originally used for nuclear power and national defense research.
Highlights & Accomplishments
Over the life of the cleanup project, CH2M-WG Idaho (CWI) will treat nearly one million gallons of sodium-bearing waste, remove targeted transuranic waste from the site’s subsurface disposal area, and demolish more than 200 structures including three reactors.
