Project Overview

We are the contractor at the San Cristóbal silver, lead and zinc mine in a remote section of southwestern Bolivia.  The San Cristóbal property is considered to be the world’s largest primary silver mine development project. The project for APEX Silver Mines Ltd., is the largest zinc and lead mining project in development today, holding approximately 450 million ounces of silver, eight billion pounds of zinc and three billion pounds of lead.

Highlights & Accomplishments:

  • Initial tasks included hiring and training, planning, and initial earthworks.
  • Initial work included the development of site access and haul roads, development of stockpile and yard areas, construction of maintenance and office facilities, and performing prestripping in two ore deposits.
  • Mining operations began in mid-2006. An estimated 40 million tonnes of ore and waste will be moved per year.
  • At full production, our staff will number 164.
