Project Safety Highlights - Energy & Environment

Washington Savannah River Company, South Carolina

In the 1950s the site served to produce basic materials used in the fabrication of nuclear weapons. WSRC employees manage the nuclear weapons and nuclear materials.

2006 Highlights:

  • Most consecutive days (263) without an injury requiring a day away from work in project history.  More than 11 million hours were accumulated during that period.
  • In 2006, we logged the fewest number of injuries in every category that we have tracked since we began managing the project in 1989.
  • Our total recordable case rate at the site was 0.55.
  • The number of consecutive days without an electrical safety event (116) was second best in site history. The record is 118 days.
